Cool Links and Fun Things – The Chris Brake Show/Dale J Gordon/YidLife Crisis/Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Much like my distended belly after eating too much at food tasting, I am thinking my blog is out of shape. I have been slacking on the sharing front, so today I have a few things for you.

The first is a double shout out for The Chris Brake Show and Dale J. Gordon. I love both the show and Dale. The rant he had about breakfasts on an early show was fantastic. This is the description of the new show. This is a photo of Dale.

‘Nashville recording artist Dale J. Gordon was recently homeless for a few months. He slept under the bridges of Nashville, took showers in some really excellent outdoor fountains and was actually working two jobs during his Monster Bum series, if I heard him correctly.’

The next is Eli Batalion for his new show ‘YidLife Crisis’. Eli was part of the duo behind the film ‘Stage Fright’. It is a five minute show in Yiddish. Now, if, unlike me, you can’t speak Yiddish fluently, do not fear as there are subtitles. You can watch the first episode on the link below. Please like, share etc.

Last but not least, Vanity Productions (run by Tim Oberholzer) presents ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’. The show is directed by my good friend Stewart Matthews and is over two thirds sold, so if you are in the Ottawa area, or know someone who is, or just fancy visiting for a night out, then please go see this. The link is to the Gladstone Theatre site.

You can also visit the Facebook page on the link below.

Oh, and this is where worlds collide. The Chris Brake Show gave a shout out to Hedwig on their podcast. Dance for me my puppets. Dance!

Take care buddies,

About davidmbeecroft

Hello and welcome to my blog. Please feel free to have an explore. My name is David Beecroft. I am 38 years old. I co-founded and ran a small scale touring theatre company called Screwed & Clued in 1998. I went on to tour the Canadian Fringe Theatre Festival circuit over the following five years. I have written six original plays, the last ‘The Poe Show’ won a Best in Fest award at the 2014 Ottawa Fringe Festival. I worked in a social care setting for ten years and now work in a special needs school. I have sent my first novel off to agents and considering self-publishing if that does not work. I co-host a radio show on Surrey Hills Community Radio called Daves of the Week where we feature charities for a six week period. I live with my fiance and two pet Degus. I started this blog when suffering from depression and attending therapy, so a large part of this blog was about my experience and thoughts of that. Since then I am in a much better place and I write about life after depression and how I stay (or try to) ahead of it happening again. I also like to look at the happier sides of life and try to put a positive spin on serious subjects.

  1. I have been on the Chris Brake Show a couple of times recently (Episodes #058 & #60) via Skype from down under. I would highly recommend it to anyone else. Both co-hosts Chris Brake and John Rapp are really easy to get along with. Chris is the main voice of the show, and a master at improvisation, while John is the techie / can do everything guy . WR
